{"id":4384,"date":"2021-06-28T13:25:26","date_gmt":"2021-06-28T13:25:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/laurafredrickson.com\/blog\/?p=4384"},"modified":"2023-10-23T09:26:03","modified_gmt":"2023-10-23T09:26:03","slug":"a-prayer-for-all-that-walk-the-earth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/laurafredrickson.com\/blog\/a-prayer-for-all-that-walk-the-earth\/","title":{"rendered":"A PRAYER FOR ALL THAT WALK THE EARTH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A prayer for all of us who walk the Earth..<\/p>\n<p>May I be humble<br \/>\nmay I be innocent<br \/>\nmay I be wise.<\/p>\n<p>May I know the deep calm of the earth<br \/>\nthat glows in the eye of the fox<br \/>\nand that sings with the water bird<br \/>\nrising to beat jewels of light from her wings.<\/p>\n<p>May I be still enough for natural dignity to arise within me<br \/>\nguiding my hand in action and my voice in speech.<\/p>\n<p>May I carry my ancient heart lightly and with real sincerity<br \/>\nknowing that the life that beats within<br \/>\nis as old as forever,<br \/>\nhonoured and perfectly wedded<br \/>\nto the ever-arising source of existence.<\/p>\n<p>As I remember my heart<br \/>\nmay I see that source within all things<br \/>\nin the eyes of my sacred enemy, my friends and my family,<br \/>\nin green feathers, in white bone and in twisted branches.<\/p>\n<p>Give me the courage to stand as if I am witness to all creation<br \/>\nand to know that all creation is looking back at me,<br \/>\nfrom stone and child and salt sea-shell spiral.<\/p>\n<p>Grant me the presence to carry my heartbreak well,<br \/>\nand that the pain gives me tenderness and wisdom<br \/>\nso that I may love more deeply<br \/>\nand dance more freely,<br \/>\nwalking lightly across the plains and mountains and cities<br \/>\nof this great garden earth.<\/p>\n<p>May my eyes be lifted to the light and<br \/>\nmy animal feet strong and bright,<br \/>\npacing in the freedom of my birth-right<br \/>\nand the effortless nobility of true belonging.<\/p>\n<p>As I walk, may I remember the eyes of old men dying and women birthing,<br \/>\nthe trust of children sleeping and the endless faith of flowers.<\/p>\n<p>Show me how to make every strange feeling and breakdown<br \/>\na ragged sail to carry my wretched, foundering ship further across the great ocean<br \/>\ntowards the safe harbour of the one love.<\/p>\n<p>May I tread the landscapes of grief with an open chest<br \/>\ndrawing meaning from tears and resilience from sadness.<\/p>\n<p>May I recognise mercy<br \/>\nand bow down at the merciless altar<br \/>\nwhere everything is asked for<br \/>\nand everything is surrendered.<\/p>\n<p>Give me miracles in the ordinary<br \/>\nand humility in the miraculous.<\/p>\n<p>Let the fire at the centre of myself<br \/>\nthat burns bright as essence<br \/>\nwarm me in the night<br \/>\nand may I never fear its heat<br \/>\nbut rather draw close<br \/>\nso that what is not mine burns away like dry grass<br \/>\nrevealing new growth green shoots and swelling buds<br \/>\nperpetually opening into the light of now.<\/p>\n<p>May I know how to lie down with myself<br \/>\nand unfold intimacy, my cheek resting on my own perfect silence.<\/p>\n<p>May I remember the plains of darkness between the stars<br \/>\nand the great tapestry of time<br \/>\nthrough which I dream and which dreams through me.<\/p>\n<p>Grant that I be quiet enough to be able to hear the flowers opening<br \/>\nAnd wild enough to fly with dragonflies in the textured sunlight.<\/p>\n<p>May I cease to seek for perfection<br \/>\nAnd recognise the love that is inherent in this simple life,<br \/>\nmoving in smiling gratitude<br \/>\nfor everything that is given.<\/p>\n<p>For everything truly is given,<br \/>\nbreath to breath<br \/>\nheartbeat to heartbeat<br \/>\nlife to death.<\/p>\n<p>Unveil the moment and the love that was never hidden<br \/>\ngiving love, living love<br \/>\ngentle, strong and brave,<br \/>\nopen, alive and just as fully human as this soul can be.<\/p>\n<p>May good seeds sprout as I pass<br \/>\nto sow the life of the future<br \/>\nthat will nourish my children<br \/>\nwith a rich harvest.<\/p>\n<p>May forests of love grow from doubt<br \/>\nand hate blossom into faith and flowers.<\/p>\n<p>May dignity arise like the sun on a new day<br \/>\nturning the autumn dew to green, red and blue light diamonds,<br \/>\nsimple beauty that gives everything<br \/>\nand asks for nothing in return,<br \/>\nfor nothing is more precious than gold,<br \/>\nand the empty chest that is full of wonder.<\/p>\n<p>May all beings be at peace.<br \/>\nMay you be whole.<\/p>\n<p>In all possible ways<br \/>\nmay you be whole.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Bushill<br \/>\nhttps:\/\/www.benbushill.com\/<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A prayer for all of us who walk the Earth..
